Our office is on US 41 in Osprey, about six road miles north of Nokomis. In normal traffic that's a ten to fifteen minute drive through Laurel. Nokomis patients are seen the day they call, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Ring (941) 207-8431 before you set out and a time will be waiting.
The $99 is a minimum fee for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam (ADA code D0140) and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.

How far is our office from Nokomis?
About six miles by road. We're at 416 S Tamiami Trl Ste F4, Osprey, FL 34229, on South Tamiami Trail (US 41), the main north-south road through Osprey. From most of the 34275 zip code the trip is US 41 nearly the whole way: north through Laurel, past Oscar Scherer State Park, into Osprey.
From Nokomis Community Park, Nokomis Riverview Park or the Albee Farm Road area, plan on ten to fifteen minutes. From Nokomis Public Beach you cross the Albee Road bridge back to the mainland first, so use the higher end of that range.
Casey Key homeowners have a shorter option. Blackburn Point Road and its swing bridge meet US 41 about a mile south of our office. From the key that's about four miles and eight to fourteen minutes.
Same-day emergency dental care for Nokomis patients
We open at 8:00 AM every weekday and keep room in the schedule for emergencies. Phone while we're open and the front desk slots you in that day. Phone after 4:00 PM or over the weekend and a real person still picks up, writes down what's wrong, and reserves the first opening on the next business morning for you.
Walk-ins aren't accepted, so the call comes first. It's what lets us have a chair waiting when you pull in from Nokomis. Exam, X-ray and, whenever the diagnosis allows it, treatment all happen with our dentists at one sitting. Emergency extractions, emergency root canals, abscess and infection treatment and broken tooth repair are all done in our office. Nothing is sent to another practice.
If you're in Nokomis for the season, you don't need a history with us. Bring a list of your medications, plus any insurance card you have.
What an emergency dental visit costs for Nokomis patients
For patients paying without insurance, the emergency exam and X-ray are $99. That covers the diagnosis. Any treatment is a separate charge, and you get the number in writing before we start. You decide before anything begins.
We accept most PPO dental insurance plans, and Sunbit, Cherry and CareCredit financing are available for treatment. If you have a PPO plan, the exam and X-ray are billed to your plan. The cost and insurance page has more.
Getting here from Nokomis
- From the Albee Road area: take Albee Road east to US 41 and turn north. Stay on US 41 through Laurel. You pass Oscar Scherer State Park about two miles before the office and Blackburn Point Road about a mile before it. Parking on site.
- From Colonia Lane: Colonia Lane to US 41, then north. Same road from there, roughly six miles in all.
- From Casey Key: Blackburn Point Road east over the swing bridge to US 41, then north about a mile.
- From Interstate 75: exit 195, Laurel Road west to US 41, then north through Laurel into Osprey.

Weekdays we close at 4:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday the office is shut. The phone keeps working. Some symptoms shouldn't wait for morning. Swelling that climbs toward the eye or sinks down the neck, trouble swallowing or breathing, or a jaw injury from a fall or crash need an emergency room tonight. The closest one to Nokomis and to our office is Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice on Laurel Road East near I-75. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself.
Emergency dental services for Nokomis families
A toothache that kept you up all night usually gets both its diagnosis and its treatment in a single visit. A knocked-out tooth from a fall at the beach or a bike spill on the Legacy Trail belongs in milk or saliva, not a dry tissue, and in our chair within the hour; in summer heat, don't let it dry out on the dash. Same-day care for wisdom tooth pain is routine, and when the tooth has to go, removing a wisdom tooth, simple or surgical, happens here. A lost filling or crown gets replaced or re-cemented when the tooth underneath is sound.

My tooth broke at Nokomis Beach on a Saturday. What do I do?
Call us right away. Someone picks up on weekends, notes what happened, and reserves Monday's 8:00 AM opening for you. Rinse with warm water, keep any fragment you find, and if a sharp edge is cutting your tongue, a bit of sugarless gum over it helps.
I'm only in Nokomis for the winter. Will you take my out-of-state PPO plan?
Most PPO dental plans work no matter where the plan was issued. Bring the card, and we'll check your benefits before the visit. If the plan won't cover us, the exam and X-ray are $99 and any treatment gets a written quote before work begins.
