The $99 is a minimum fee for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam (ADA code D0140) and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.

How far is our office from Venice?
About seven road miles from downtown Venice. Our office is at 416 S Tamiami Trl Ste F4, Osprey, FL 34229, on South Tamiami Trail (US 41), the road that connects Venice to Sarasota.
From the island side of the city, around Venice Avenue, Centennial Park, the Venice Theatre and the Venice Train Depot, count on twelve to eighteen minutes. From the neighborhoods near Venice High School, Pinebrook Park and Wellfield Park, or from the 34292 and 34293 zip codes, the US 41 By-Pass is usually the simpler start, and the time is about the same.
Getting here from Venice
Route 1, from downtown and the island:
- Take Venice Avenue to Tamiami Trail, which is US 41 Business.
- Head north across the Hatchett Creek bridge.
- Stay on US 41 north through Nokomis, then Laurel.
- Pass Oscar Scherer State Park. The office is about two miles farther, on US 41 in Osprey. Parking on site.
Route 2, from the east side of the city:
- Join the US 41 By-Pass heading north.
- Follow US 41 north through Nokomis and Laurel into Osprey.
From Interstate 75: take exit 195 and go west on Laurel Road to US 41, then north. Blackburn Point Road, the swing bridge road to Casey Key, is about a mile before us.
Same-day emergency dental care for Venice patients
We keep emergency time in every weekday's schedule. Call during office hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the front desk gives you a time that day. Call outside those hours and a real person still answers, takes your details, and holds you the first opening the next business morning.
We don't accept walk-ins. Call before you get on the Trail. Our dentists handle the exam, the X-ray and, when the diagnosis allows, the treatment in one visit. That includes emergency tooth extraction, emergency root canal, severe toothache relief and abscess and swollen jaw treatment. Nothing is referred out.
Seasonal residents are welcome, and you don't need to be an existing patient. Bring your insurance card and a list of your medications if you can.
After hours for Venice patients
We close at 4:00 PM on weekdays and we're closed Saturday and Sunday. The phone at (941) 207-8431 is answered by a person at any hour. After 4:00 PM on a Tuesday, for example, you're held for Wednesday at 8:00 AM. After a Friday-night or weekend call, it's Monday at 8:00 AM. An emergency room is the right call tonight for swelling that spreads toward the eye or down the neck, for trouble swallowing or breathing, or for a jaw injury. For Venice patients, Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice is on Laurel Road East near I-75. Hospitals treat spreading infection and injuries; they generally don't treat the tooth itself.
What an emergency dental visit costs for Venice patients
Paying without insurance, the emergency exam and X-ray are $99. That's the diagnosis. Treatment is separate, and our dentist puts the price in writing before touching the tooth. If you have a PPO plan, the exam and X-ray are billed to your plan.

Emergency dental services for Venice families
A broken or chipped tooth is bonded the same day, or crowned when the break is large. A knocked-out tooth needs to stay wet, in milk or your own saliva, and reach us fast; in a hot car in July, that matters even more. Wisdom tooth pain is seen the same day, and wisdom tooth extraction is done in our office. A lost crown can usually be re-cemented and a lost filling replaced, as long as the tooth underneath is sound.

Should I take the By-Pass or Business 41 from Venice?
Both join US 41 north of the city, so pick whichever you're closer to. From Venice Avenue and the island, cross the Hatchett Creek bridge and keep going. From the east side, the By-Pass north. From I-75, exit 195 and Laurel Road west.
I'm here for the season and my dentist is up north. Can you treat me?
Yes, with or without records from home. Bring your insurance card. Most PPO dental plans are accepted no matter where they were issued, and if yours won't cover us, the exam and X-ray are $99 with any treatment quoted in writing before we start.
Can a tooth be pulled the same day for a Venice patient?
Often, yes. The exam and X-ray come first so the dentist can see the roots and the bone around them. If extraction is the right treatment and you approve the written price, it's usually done at that visit, whether the tooth comes out simply or needs a surgical approach.
What if I break a tooth in Venice after 4:00 PM?
Call anyway. A person answers, takes your details, and holds you the first opening at 8:00 AM the next business morning. Save any piece of the tooth, rinse gently, and avoid chewing on that side. If the pain is severe, the after-hours page has steps for the night.
