The $99 is a minimum fee for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam (ADA code D0140) and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.

Signs you need broken tooth repair today
How much of the tooth is gone tells us a lot before you arrive.
A small chip off the edge. Rough against your tongue, maybe a little sensitive, but it doesn't hurt on its own. Bonding repairs it at one visit. Come in soon anyway; a rough edge cuts the tongue and a chipped corner tends to chip further.
A crack you can feel but can't see. Sharp pain when you bite down and let go, and nothing in between. The sooner a crack is covered, the less likely it is to split the tooth.
A large piece broken off. If the softer inner layer is exposed, the tooth aches with air and cold and needs a crown to hold what's left together. If the break has reached the nerve, an emergency root canal comes first, then the crown.
A tooth broken off at the gum. The X-ray shows whether the root is sound enough to build on or the tooth has to come out.

What happens at your same-day visit
Our dentist looks at the break, checks how the tooth responds to cold and biting, and takes an X-ray, which shows whether the crack runs into the root and how close the nerve is. Then you get a written price before any work begins.
The repair depends on the break:
- Bonding for chips and small corners. A tooth-colored resin is shaped onto the tooth, hardened with a light and polished to match the neighbors. Done at that visit.
- A filling when the break has opened up decay underneath, cleaned out and filled the same day.
- A crown when the break is large. The tooth is shaped and covered so it's protected when you leave. Our dentist explains whether your crown is finished in one visit or fitted at a follow-up.
- A root canal, then a crown, when the nerve is exposed.
- An extraction when the tooth has split below the gum and can't be rebuilt.
Bring the broken piece if you have it, in a little milk in a clean container. Sometimes it can be bonded back on.

From South Sarasota, stay on US 41 south the whole way through Gulf Gate and Vamo, about 14 to 20 minutes. Gulf Gate patients take Gulf Gate Drive or Beneva Road to US 41 and head south, 10 to 15 minutes. Frequently asked questions
Does a chipped tooth need to be fixed if it doesn't hurt?
Usually, yes, and soon rather than someday. A chip removes some of the enamel that protects the softer layer underneath, and small chips are the simplest to repair. Left alone, they tend to grow until the fix is a crown instead of bonding.
What should I do right now, before my appointment?
Rinse with warm water, and if there's bleeding, press gauze on the spot for ten minutes. Cover a sharp edge with sugarless gum or dental wax. Chew on the other side, skip very hot or cold drinks, and keep any broken piece in milk. Then call (941) 207-8431.
Is a summer thunderstorm a reason to wait?
No. Afternoon storms on this stretch of the Gulf Coast pass quickly, and a broken tooth that's open to air and bacteria is easier to repair the same day than a few days later. Call, get your time, and drive over when the rain lets up.
